The traditional sauna for hot and dry baths comes from a long tradition dating back to the Greek times, and has gone through many influences to end up as the Finnish saunas we know. It is traditionally made with Nordic wood.
A sauna session has a tonic and relaxing effect, it gives back elasticity and firms up the skin, eliminates the toxins and deeply cleans the skin by sweat. It stimulates the heart function and improves blood circulation with the hot and cold, and relieves from a cold and light asthma.
Many variations have been developed from Bio sauna to outside sauna. A large range of accessories and designs allow the creation of different atmospheres: meditation sauna (with chromatherapy), rustic sauna...
The temperature varies between 70°C and 110°C. The humidity rate (very low) is between 3% and 6% and does not go above 10%.
Bio Sauna : It is a cabin with a precise system of temperature and humidity adjustment with a micro-chip and humidity sensors, its heat is lower than in a classic sauna. There can be 5 types of different climatic programmes : classic sauna, tropical bath, hot air bath, herbal bath, hot steam bath.
The temperature of the cabin varies from 50°C to 60°C, with a relative humidity rate around 60%.
Infra red sauna : More and more acknowledged by the medical world, it can be adapted to all ages thanks to its soft heat, without humidity or steam.
The temperature varies between 40°C and 60°C with a maximum of 80°C. The relative humidity rate stays under 10%.
Banya : It is the Russian equivalent to the Finnish sauna. The hot air is more humid and the complete ritual traditionally lasts at least 2 hours. The banya ritual is a subtle mix of hot and cold.
It is a succession of thermal shocks between the bath sessions, cold showers and immersion in a cold bath or simply application of snow on the body to cool down the skin. Essential element of the Russian culture, it is still considered as a universal cure in the villages where traditional medicine is still in use.
Aufguss : it is the ritual that consists in throwing water on hot rocks and lava stones to create steam in the sauna. The steam cloud immediately increases the humidity in the sauna. Essential oils are added to the water. Their properties have healthy effects and stimulate the whole system. The Aufguss is an authentic approach of the sauna ritual.
